It is a hiking route that runs through the area of the towns buried by lava flows during the eruptions of 1730-1736.
A walk through the Natural Park of Los Volcanes to discover the area of the villages buried by lava.
Where there was destruction, life was reborn among rocks and volcanic ash.
There is something that, after more than 3 centuries, still impacts us and fills us with good vibes. What is it? Discover it with this route.
From our meeting point we head towards the first volcano that started the longest eruptions in the whole of the Canary Islands, El Cuervo volcano. We walk around the crater discovering unique landscapes such as peculiar the badlands (malpaís) of the Volcanoes Natural Park or the valley of La Geria. From the volcano El Cuervo, we move on to the volcano that put an end to these eruptions in April 1736: Montaña Colorada. To reach this volcano we’ll walk through the volcanic ash fields that surround Montaña Negra.
In the middle of the lava flows of Montaña Colorada there is a small and charming cave, where we will pause for a typical Canarian snack. After having charged the batteries, we continue to discover the volcanic activity in this area.
Bring comfortable shoes and water, use sun protection.
Due to the environmental permits necessary to carry out this route, the activity will only take place on Wednesdays.
