In September the festival of the patron saint of Lanzarote is celebrated: the Virgin of the Volcanoes in Mancha Blanca.
According to legend, it was the miracle of the Virgin that put an end to the six interminable years of the eruptions of Timanfaya. The lava flow stopped right next to the place where the hermitage of Los Dolores is located today.
A lady dressed in black appeared to Juana Rafaela not far from that place while she was grazing with her herd of goats.
It was here that the help of the Virgin was invoked to end the eruptions.
A simple hiking route for the whole family that allows us to discover the history of Lanzarote but also its traditions and culture.
While we walk we discover the magic of agriculture in Lanzarote, how the peasants could take advantage of the peculiarity of their land to grow new crops.
Enjoy a route through one of the lesser-known enclaves of Lanzarote but which has a great history and great cultural heritage.
